Abstract

During a 4-year period, 120 fixtures were installed in partially and fully edentulous jaws. All fixtures mobility were evaluated with clinically finger pressure and periapical radiolucencies. The clinical results tend to indicate that osseointegmtion of the intraosseous implant is not as much dependent on the configuration of the implant as it is on the method of placement of the fixture and the quality of surgical technique used to avoid bone destruction during implant placement.
The proper case selection, use of biocompatible material, provide of dequate unloading period and gentle surgical procedures, therefore, appear to be of high importance in the success of clinical application of these structures.
